Pen and ink artist specialising in House Portraits

Bob has acquired his skills having attended a range of residential courses across the UK after retirement. He has exhibited at both The Gardens Gallery and The Wilson in Cheltenham as well as running successful exhibitions.

His house portrait vouchers have been used as special presents and for auction at Charity events.

His portraits aim to capture the unique features and history of a building together with the immediate setting.

The Black and white format is ideal for reproducing on cards and on letter headings as well as a composition for framing.

Bob will travel to any reasonable day visit from Cheltenham in order to find the best angles and lighting for the house…he will create sketches discuss alternatives with the customer before completing the final version in studio. He will not work from photos.

Between £200 and £300

50% deposit payable on order, balance paid on delivery of work mounted ready for framing.

Examples of Bob’s work

This commission came from a large family whose Granny lived in this house until she passed away.
The house is in Portishead village alongside the church, It had been over-powered by a new red roof whose presence I reduced to a few lines enabling me to concentrate on the Ecclesiastic stone buttress window and the open aspect in the ground floor.
The stonework also became a feature emphasising the age and origins of the building.
A commission from an American lady whose enthusiasm for the lovely town of Cheltenham is transparent.
The tree lined streets and squares combined with Terraces of Edwardian Architecture are typical.
Getting a good treatment of light and shadow was key but also adding in contemporary details of businesses and sign posts gives the work a contemporary setting.
