Easter in Montpellier Gardens

  • Amongst a range of events in the Gardens over Easter is a compelling collection at the Gardens Gallery entitled NEW LIFE.
  • 11 artists are displaying their work to raise funds for Rotary Charities and The Pied Piper Appeal. The prime cause being the replacement of two vehicles for the Hospice association is the Easter Cape where HIV/AIDS and TB are still at high levels in rural areas.
  • Work displayed is evocative of Spring and new life with Tracey Turner and her wonderfully original felt landscapes, Jill Bateman with flower decked borders in oil and Rob Goldsmith working his water colour magic with Spring colours on local scenes. Rob will be artist in residence on Thursday afternoon.
  • Katherine Dove is also joining us with her fashionable acrylic collection of Cheltenham urban scenes bedecked with blossom.
  • The abstract world is represented by some precious works in oil by Plum Neasmith who always delivers with a different approach.
  • In Charcoal and pastel Sheila Bryant will be executing quick portraits on the Saturday afternoon, a bargain for those many people who admire Sheila’s skill. There will be more of her work on display.  .
  • A popular corner of the gallery will be devoted to Jewelry by Open studios artist Susan Wilkinson in conjunction with lifestyle accessories by Pru Cross.
  • In another wing of the gallery will be found glass engraving by Amanda Lawrence who has exhibited widely and hails from the evocative Slad Valley. Amanda will be demonstrating the art of glass engraving on the Friday afternoon.
  • Natasha Houseago, the woodcarver is giving NEW LIFE to a famous tree from Montpellier Gardens and we have more surprises…
  • So much to see and possibly buy ..so dip in several times between enjoying the events in the Gardens including Vintage Cars, Egg Races, Bandstand Entertainment and even a Keep Fit Bootcamp for the early risers…..followed by Easter Breakfasts in the Café.
