Event Details

Artists exhibiting:  Wendy Golding, Debbie Smith, Beverley Perry, Gerald Crittle.

We are four Gloucestershire artists who have come together to showcase a kaleidoscope of colour across our range of work in paint and glass. With colour evoking different emotions in the viewer, as well as the artists, it will be a bright and vibrant exhibition.

Wendy Golding – Abstract Artist

Based in Gloucester, Wendy works in her small studio in her garden. Her artistic influences are Abstract Expressionism and Abstractionism. Using spontaneous mark-making she likes to organically create a piece of art in response to a feeling, word, colour, landscape, or emotion, thereby capturing the spirit of something or her response to it. Her works are expressions of movement and emotion.

As a contemporary artist she wants to emotively interpret things that resonate with her: nature, language, and philosophy. She uses intuitive marks and lines to illustrate movement, light, and texture  – working mostly in mixed media, acrylic, inks, pastels, and charcoal.

Beverley Perry – Contemporary Artist

Based in Gloucester, Beverley’s work is influenced by her strong love of nature and the world around her, and shows expressions of warmth, colour, and personality.

She loves nothing more than being out in the open air, taking in the surroundings, and is often inspired by our beautiful countryside and our lovely little villages.

Gerald Crittle – Abstract Artist

Gerald Crittle is an abstract artist based in Gloucestershire who enjoys creating textured surfaces and experimenting with mixed media.

His art often hints at celestial bodies like planets and galaxies, but he purposely avoids depicting anything easily identifiable. Gerald also creates unique art from old, gnarled floorboards, using the distressed surface as a canvas to bring a bit of quirkiness and originality to each piece.

Gerald’s artistic journey began around 2008 and over the years he has honed his technique, established a unique style, and significantly increased his artistic output. His art is created in his studio in Cheltenham and in his garden in Churchdown.

Debbie Smith, Fused Glass Artist

Debbie combines strong colours to create eye-catching pieces, from functional bowls and plates to pictures and decorative items. She is fascinated by the different ways glass transmits and reflects light and the opportunities this creates. Debbie initially focused on geometric designs, such as her signature octagonal bowls.

She also turned to embroidery patterns for inspiration, creating delicate floral patterns. More recently she has been experimenting with pattern bars, which are fired, cut and rearranged to produce unique designs, and using glass powders to ‘paint’ landscapes.
