Tracy Hunt is a Cheltenham based artist. She works with cold and encaustic wax, and mixed media. Her landscape work is semi-abstract, depicting atmospheric land and seascapes evoking memories, sensations and experiences. Tracy’s encaustic-wax work is about the fragility and beauty of nests.  Recently Tracy has been exploring colour palettes outside her comfort zone, alongside abstract compositions with subtle changes in tone, leaving areas of underlayers exposed creating ‘sweet-spots’ of interest.

Caroline Cattermull is an intuitive artist, working from her home studio in the Cotswolds. Using acrylic paint, she creates playful, distinctive colour palettes to make her paintings vibrate with energy and intrigue.  Her brush technique creates an illusion of a pulsing life-force, a sense of movement, both real and mystical. Inspired by nature and travel, she weaves a story through her attention to detail, often embedding elements of abstract shape in her art.

This exhibition showcases the contrasting process and styles of these two artists. While the subject matter in Caroline’s paintings is obvious, they have a supernatural energy, conveyed by immediate, confident and technicolour brushmarks. Tracy’s amorphous landscapes and abstracts emerge and fade, akin to places in our dream-states that we try to remember upon waking.
