halcyon days II
Sarah and Gill are excited to be exhibiting for the second time this year at the Gardens Gallery. Both are colourists, and paint life from observation.
Gill’s painting method is strong, impressionistic and lively resulting in bold, colourful paintings in oil. She uses a limited colour palette, usually 5 to 6 oil colours, plus titanium white, which gives unity to her work. The brushmarks are rapid and the paint is applied as heavily as possible from one stroke. Although she does not use a palette knife, her impasto mark making is as intense.
Sarah is predominately a landscape painter whose work incorporates the landscapes around her home in the Cotswolds. She paints “en plein air” and is excited to capture the changing light effects across land, water and sky which she finds challenging, completely absorbing and magical. Sarah paints in oils and often incorporates cold wax. She works with both brushes and palette knives laying down spontaneous marks to produce colourful and harmonious paintings.
halcyon days II runs from 26th April to 1st May.
