Aspects and Attitudes – an exhibition with depth from six artists each with their own unique style and perspective.

Alex Findlay – Artist

Alex Findlay lives and works in Gloucestershire. Working primarily in oil, he is drawn to the medium’s depth of tone and flexibility. His practice is rooted in the atelier tradition, with an emphasis on careful drawing, close observation, and craft developed through studies from life.

He has exhibited locally and in East Anglia, and was for a period a principal exhibitor at the Hunsdon Gallery.

He studied fine art at the University of Gloucestershire and has also been influenced by the teaching and practices of a range of contemporary figurative artists outside an academic framework.

His work focuses on romantic, contemporary, and historical subjects. Using light, texture, and composition, he constructs quiet narratives in which painting functions not only as a technical discipline, but as a form of storytelling, inviting the viewer to pause and imagine the lives, emotions, and histories suggested within the work.

Bridget Cordory – Textile Artist

I work in Batik, applying hot wax and dyes to fine cotton or silk. Inspired by wildlife and the countryside I use my photographs as references . The batik is a contrast of controlled design and the fabric dye  colours mixing and doing their own thing. It is not until I have removed the wax that I can see the final work.  Each piece is a journey of discovery.

Clare Hines – Artist

Clare has studied art at Stroud School of Art and is now taking a masters in Fine Art at the

University of Gloucestershire.

She mainly creates abstract art – exploring the interface between 2D and 3D art and sometimes even film. Her work is often vibrant and full of colour. All of Clare’s art reflects her sense of fun, curiosity, enthusiasm and desire to make things a little better for everyone.

All of it is from the heart – how she is moved in the act of creating it.  It is what you see and your imagination can make it anything.

Ellie Thomas – Artist

I am a self-taught artist, whose love of painting was sparked by personal tragedy in 2016 at which time I started painting as a form of therapy. I have since exhibited at several group exhibitions, and in various Gallery Spaces around the Cotswolds.

I am passionate about creating eye catching pieces that connect with the viewer on an emotional level. Most paintings relate to my experiences of walking in the Cotswolds although I sometimes paint places that are further afield.

John Bibby – Artist

My work explores the intersection of vibrant colour, expressive form, and emotional narrative. I gravitate toward bold palettes and dynamic compositions, blending abstraction with recognizable figures or scenes. Through energetic brushwork and texture, I convey a sense of movement and vitality. I use colour and form to evoke feeling and curiosity. Drawn to contrasts: light and shadow, realism and abstraction, and dialogue between solitude and connection. My process is intuitive and layered. Using planned structure and spontaneous mark-making, allowing the painting to evolve organically. Fresh and alive, it’s the viewers moments of discovery when I find meaning as an artist
