CLAY HILL POTTERS – HAND MADE & FIRED UP

15 – 21 August 2012

http://www.clayhillpotters.co.uk/

  • Clay Hill Potters are a passionate and highly creative cooperative of people from all walks of life who share a common passion for ceramics. They are based in a barn on a hilltop near the riverside village of Newnham-on-Severn.
  • Many of its members attended pottery courses at a local college but when these were closed they were in the fortunate position to be able to buy their equipment. This was then transported across the Forest of Dean to a barn near Newnham on Severn which was refurbished into the present pottery workshop. They now run their own classes & employ ex college ceramic tutor & potter Joan Doherty.
  • FOURTEEN makers will exhibit wares reflecting a diverse range of creative approaches to clay work, from traditional throwing, slab-building to sculpting techniques with equally varied and pleasing decorative styles and treatments.
  • The exhibition promises a visually exciting and informative experience showing high quality ceramics. This not only reflects the artistic talents of Clay Hill Pottery members, but also reflects the philosophy that drives this cooperative venture forward.
