Event Details

How Light Falls
New work by Cotswold-based artists Liney Hill, Simon Fitzgerald and Abigail Waddell. Work is produced  mainly in oils, and is an exploration of How Light Falls and shapes our experience  of the world around us, on land, sea, sky, vegetation and man made structures inside and out.
Abigail Waddel Is a contemporary landscape artist painting mainly in oils. She paints oil sketches and smaller works en plein air , bigger pieces are completed in the studio using her outside work to inform colours, light, and composition.
Abigail won the British Art Prize People’s choice 2022, and the British Contemporary  Art  award 2021
Liney Hill:
I work from my Cotswold Studio, which I take pleasure in sharing with other artists and creatives. We have Sculpture, Poetry, Life Drawing, plein air, and a light airy studio to paint in.
I love working from still life, landscape, and spend time in my studio working up paintings from places that inspire me.
As a full time carer, time in the studio can be limited. I am about to attend an artists retreat in Cornwall, and this special time will be the main focus of my exhibition work, this will be combined with my favourite topic – reflections in water. I am entranced by the River Thames which forms part of the boundary of the farm I grew up on, and  which inspires my work.

Simon FitzGerald
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe within an artistic family, where I was exposed to design, painting, printing, pottery and sculpture. I recognise now that these early influences have become the mainstay of my process. Recently I have been enjoying life drawing, still life and en plein air painting with oil paints. I enjoy the challenge of finding light and shade in the subjects in front of me.
