Event Details
Alison and Jo are recent MA Fine Art graduates from the University of Gloucestershire. They both explore the hidden depths of nature, Alison through the medium of printmaking and Jo through her drawings. Their interests lie in shining a light on the overlooked and undervalued aspects of our environment, concentrating on a much closer view.
Alison seeks inspiration from her daily walks, whether this is in the Cotswolds countryside or the coast of West Wales. As she walks Alison captures images of the ground and spaces that are within easy reach. The human scale. By focussing on the overlooked her practice is an exploration of the way in which the environment is experienced and means to support a more caring attitude between humankind and the natural environment.
Jo’s practice uses drawing to explore a personal relationship with place. Detail found in natural objects, collected on woodland walks, combines with ethereal memories of past experiences and unvisited, imagined landscapes. Graphic lines reference an attempt to record and map this complex connection to nature.
