Cheltenham Young Artist 2026
RULES
1. This Competition is open to pupils attending Cheltenham Area Schools including from Churchdown and Bishops Cleeve.
2. Two Sections: Primary & Secondary
3. The Theme “My Favourite Thing” ….. : From pets, to family, to places.
4. Medium 2D: Paint, pencil, crayon, pastels, inks, acrylics on Canvas boards
– Please note NO COLLAGE, NO PHOTOGRAPHY, NO OIL PAINT
5. Each pupil may submit ONE A4 ART WORK. (Please note only A4 work will be judged)
6. Each entry must have PRINTED on the back:
TITLE of art work, PUPIL’S NAMES, Age, School Name, Teacher Contact Name, School email.
7. Work entered must be all the pupil’s own art. If similar technique works are being sent in please shortlist first.
8. Entries close FRIDAY DECEMBER 12TH 2025.
9. The art work will be judged by a panel of three judges chosen by the Gardens Gallery, their decision is final.
10. 50 chosen entries will be framed for a celebration exhibition at the Gardens Gallery, Montpellier, Gardens, Cheltenham on the weekend of January 17th & 18th between 10am – 4pm.
11. All chosen work will be displayed with the name of the young artist, age and title of their work.
12. Artists with exhibited work will be notified through the schools by Friday January 9th, 2026 and winners invited to an awards ceremony at the Gardens Gallery on Sunday January 18th at 3pm
13. Art Prizes, including cash prizes of £60/£40/£20 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd and commended in both the Primary and Secondary categories. All framed work for the exhibition will be given to the young artists at exhibition end.
14. Any art work submitted may be used for publicity purposes by The Gardens Gallery with names.
15. At the end of the exhibition all school packed entries will be returned to the schools. Where possible any individually deposited art will be added to the appropriate school envelope. We regret we cannot return independently submitted work unless accompanied by a large stamped addressed envelope.
SENDING ENTRIES
All entries must be put in large envelope addressed CYA 26 with school name printed on the back, either for whole school entry or individual. These envelopes will be used to return work to schools.
All work must be received by the closing date, FRIDAY DECEMBER 12TH, 2025.
