Throughout the year, Cheltenham hosts a number of festivals and events, many of them held in and around Montpellier Gardens.

 

If you are planning to visit any of the events shown below, why not make a point of visiting the Gardens Gallery too?  Our exhibitions are open daily from 10 am until 6pm with free entry and excellent disabled access.

 

 

CHELTENHAM JAZZ FESTIVAL 2 – 7 May 2012

 

  • The Gardens Gallery will be featuring an exhibition by Sue Durkin’s Painting Club with a mixture of subjects and media from the 2nd to 8th May 2012.

 

  • The annual Cheltenham Jazz Festival represents the start of the Festival Season in the town and is the perfect way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend.

 

  • Montpellier Gardens is the setting for the Jazz Festival.  With a Big Top, Free Stage, Boutique Cinema, bar, coffee lounge and inter-active music laboratory, there is lots to see.

 

 

 

THE TIMES CHELTENHAM SCIENCE FESTIVAL 12 – 17 June 2012

 

  • The Gardens Gallery will be featuring a two week exhibition from 6th to 19th June 2012 by Catherine Stuart et al covering printmaking, ceramics and drawing.

 

  • This summer, over 300 of the world’s greatest thinkers, comedians, writers and scientists will come together to celebrate and explore all things scientific.

 

 

 

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL OF FOOD & DRINK 15 – 17 June 2012

 

  • At the time of the Festival of Food & Drink, the Gardens Gallery will be featuring a two week exhibition from 6th to 19th June 2012 by Catherine Stuart et al covering printmaking, ceramics and drawing.

 

  • The Festival of Food and Drink, located in Montpellier Gardens is loved by both local people and visitors from outside of the Cotswold who share an interest in food, wine and real ale.

 

  • The Festival provides a range of food related activities as well as an arts & crafts marquee, a variety of children’s activities and evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings until 7pm.

 

 

THE HSBC CHELTENHAM MUSIC FESTIVAL 4 – 15 July 2012

 

  • The Gardens Gallery will be featuring two different exhibitions during the time the Cheltenham Music Festival.

 

From 4th to 10th July 2012 there will be an exhibition entitled ‘Sublime Sight’ by Melanie Thorn, Rita Thorn and Jeanette Faulkner Clarke.

 

From the 11th to 17th July, there will be an exhibition entitled ‘Gradgallery Presents Illustration’ by Sophia Bloxham et al.  This is a collection of illustrator’s work including children’s books, editorial photography and greeting card design.  For further information visit www.gradgallery.co.uk

 

  • The Cheltenham Music Festival falls between the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics.  It celebrates not only the richness of Britain’s musical heritage from Elgar, Delius, Holst and Vaughan Williams but also Debussy’s 150th anniversary.  New commissions from today’s leading composers to performances by Nigel Kennedy, Steven Isserlis and emerging new artists can be heard.

 

 

MIDSUMMER FIESTA IN MONTPELLIER GARDENS Saturday 7th July 2012

 

  • The Gardens Gallery will be featuring an interesting exhibition of paintings in various media depicting Mediterranean seascapes, landscapes of Provence and ethereal figurative ink paintings entitled ‘Sublime Sight’.  The work is produced by Melanie Thorn, Rita Thorn and Jeanette Faulkner Clarke.

 

  • The annual Midsummer Fiesta is a free and popular community event in Montpellier Gardens which aims to bring together and showcase the fantastic talents of Cheltenham’s diverse communities.

 

  • The Fiesta has something for everyone including a programme of live performances; workshops; a market place with dozens of stalls including local produce, gifts, crafts and games;  a fun fair; children’s village; sports village; classic and vintage cars; food and drink and even a world record attempt at the largest tea dance!

THE TIMES CHELTENHAM LITERATURE FESTIVAL 5 – 14 October 2012

 

  • The Gardens Gallery will be featuring two different exhibitions during the time the Cheltenham Literature Festival.

 

From 3rd to 9th October 2012 there will be an exhibition of textile art and embroidered pictures by the Cotswold Branch of the Embroiders Guild.

 

From the 10th to 16 October, there will be an exhibition of oil paintings by Alison Goff.

 

  • The Cheltenham Literature Festival hosts 10 days of events in both Montpellier Gardens and Imperial Square, hosting leading international writers, artists and celebrities.
